Simple of Sussex visits Devon.

It was a long drive down on Friday night but is was easy with the SatNav especially as I took the M27 route and went via Hampshire and Dorset. We arrived about 10:45 pm and the house was all quiet apart from William the Golden Labrador . A guard dog who you lick you to death given half a chance. There was a cup of tea and some shortbread on a tray in the kitchen. Then off to bed and out like a light.

Next day was bright and sunny, breakfast in the garden looking up to the moor. After shopping in Tavistock we went of for a picnic, not that easy with so many visitors about. Still we found a quiet view up a track and all was well. A spot of supper and an evening in front of the fire/TV. Sunday we went to The Elephants Nest a 16th century pub up on the moor. The link is below. http://www.elephantsnest.co.uk/ , I had the Devon Lamb with roast potatoes and mange tout with baby carrot and runner beans and individual cauliflower florets with cheese sauce. It was wonderful. The pub has half stone walls inside and beams blackened with over 300 years of patina. The floor is on a slope so all my gravy was on the right hand side of the plate !!

Well got to go now Folks

Simple of Sussex.
