17th September 2007

Happy day

Great day Friday, lunch with Golfball in Eastbourne. Nice restaurant, full of beams and wooden floors. Nice private table with a display case built into the wall. Lit from underneath it seemed like candlelight and GB looked so wonderful. Easy conversation, easy listening. Once again the ducks in Hamden Park did well. Then we went shopping in Lidle. .Spooky but so pleasant. . .

London City Airport

Saturday drove to London City Airport. Talk about toy town. I kept expecting Noddy and Bigears to walk round the corner.. The check-in area had about 10 desks in it, there were no Pox queuing and only two desks were manned. A long way from my airport days running systems with 150 check in desk and gates all live at once.

We went upstairs and sat in the open lounge and had Tea’s and Panni sandwiches. The service was quick, probably due to there being only about 10 people in the whole place.

I last saw my Mum being escorted through security with instructions to take “this nice lady” to her flight. Now that’s “Toy town Airport Service” for you!!! In fact the only slight down of the morning was the short-term parking fee £6.50 per hour. Who needs passengers and landing fees at that rate?

Stephen King eat your heart out.

One again the new car from hell needed attention, turns out one of the radiator hoses had split, so when I returned from London City it was hands dirty time again. Refills and test drives later it is all OK. That only leaves the gearbox, clutch and suspension to go wrong now.

Tasty Toast burns out.

Posted the Tasty Toast closure notice in the Kitchen. No more early trips to the supermarket. It closes Thursday afternoon. That’s it. No more. Finished. Thank Goodness. Sell your Tesco / ASDA shares now before there sales fall.

Ron Dennis McLaren Racing Team Boss

( From the BBC ). . . . During the argument, the reigning world champion disclosed he had email evidence in the spy scandal that could potentially prove damaging to the team.

It is reported Alonso threatened to use such information unless he was granted number one driver status ahead of Hamilton.

Dennis is said to have called his bluff, telling Alonso to go ahead, at which point, it is claimed, Dennis then phoned Mosley himself, effectively handing his team in to the FIA. ( Thanks to the BBC )

Shame on Alonso. Well done Ron Dennis, the actions of an honest bloke with integrity.
Bye folks

Simple of Sussex.
