Thursday 23rd August 2007

Today’s thoughts are about the 11-year-old boy shot dead in a pub car park.

Walking home three shots were fired by a teenager dressed in a hoodie, one bullet went through the lads neck and he died in hospital later. He was a decent lad from a good home in a good area.

It seems to me that once upon a time when a lad did something out of order he got a clip round the ear from who ever found him doing it, then when he got home he got a another clip round his ear from his dad.

So what has changed? Well, two things for a start, with today’s increased mobility people just do not know who anyone is anymore. Secondly, wrong doers do not think they will be challenged or reprimanded.

CCTV on one hand gives us perhaps the chance of a photo and police in cars give a faster response but both are AFTER the event has occurred. The important thing is to make the event harder for it to occur. Yes, We need more patrols by the police but even more effective is the strong and decent control by the parents, and more people looking at what is going on in our streets, parks and public areas.

It won’t be easy but it MUST be done. Otherwise we will have to keep to our homes and travel in groups; then we have all lost.

My Brothers Mother.

It only took two and a half hours, over a dozen phone calls, numerous internet searches, many discussions with my brother but I have finally booked my brothers mother to go to on her annual holiday. What’s more I even missed the England - Germany football match. I need a holiday myself to get over it.

Golfball

Golfball sent me some homemade Plum jam. It is delicious. Is there no end to this woman’s good points.

Bye folks

Simple of Sussex.
