Well after what felt like daily visits to Tesco and various other shops Christmas day finally arrived. A slow start to the day, up at 08:30 get to grips with the Turkey and then after a bit of breakfast off to get my 85 year old mother.
Good thing I rang her first as she had forgotten she was coming for the day. Not a bad day all things considered, until we drove her back to her bungalow. She became disoriented and kept asking where she lived and other similar type questions. It took the gloss of the day a bit. We said we would pick her up tomorrow and we would all go for lunch at my sisters!
It had its lighter moments, my sisters children ( Richard & Rebecca)had just returned from 4 week in Australia, my mother who was fond of an Australian man in the war ( nearly 70 years ago) then asked Richard where the children were. So clearly she had not recognised them at all. One of her better comments was to say during lunch that she always had had a good meal at this hotel (my sisters’ house)!!!
On a lighter note ( no mother) we went to my brother-in-laws house for lunch a few days later and met their oldest sons fiancée, what a lovely person, utterly charming, chatty, knowledgeable, bright and more besides. Well impressed!! She works here http://www.r-h-g.co.uk/ they sell Aboriginal art amoungst others.
Had a chat with GB and the world is good.
